Be careful - children!
Fancy-free children- and youth work
Yes, just very few know that it exists although it is part
of the regular programme of the FABRIK since its foundation:
The fancy-free and creative leisure work for kids and teenagers
of the district Altona/Ottensen.
Apart from cultural work it the most important aim of the
FABRIK is to support creativity, communication, the initiative
of one`s own and self-confidence of its young visitors.
Mondays to Fridays from 12 p.m. to 18 p.m. children and teenagers
in the immediate vicinity of the FABRIK can meet each other.
There they find a wide range of all sorts of activities:
painting, creating something, woodworking, pottery, cooking
and baking, sports, games, trips, parties and much more. There
isn't any obligation to participate. However, everybody can
if he/she wants join in according to his/her wishes and possibilities
without any pressure to perform, but always with professional
advice and care.
Three times a week there is a homework help and since 1983
on an area directly behind the FABRIK there is a kind of farm
with a big garden which shall give large town children a better
and practical understanding of nature during the summer months.
All this doesn't cost anything.
It is used by approximately 70 to 150 regular visitors and
sporadic guests, groups and classes who like to take up the
various creative activities as enrichment and expansion of
their own offers have the possibility to make an appointment
by telephone.
Teenagers and adults, in addition, have the working groups
of the FABRIK at their disposal:
Pottery, the black-and-white and colour photo group, the internet
café in the tea-room as well as the working group [I:si]
TV (children make television for children).
Besides the FABRIK regularly organises exhibitions with photos
of well-known as well as unknown international photographers
for years, which take place since 1997 in the museum Altona.
